Blackberry PlayBook Price Unveiled

The Blackberry Playbook was announced late last year and now it has finally appeared in UK stores for pre-order. The new tablet is now available to pre-order from Dixons, Currys and PC World in the UK and will launch on June 16th.

The Blackberry Playbook 16GB is priced at £399 , while the 32GB version costs £479.  This is the same price that an Apple iPad 16GB WiFi and 3G currently retails at so it's a competitive price. The Playbook is slightly cheaper than the HTC Flyer, while it is around the same price as the Motorola Xoom.

The specification of the Playbook is pretty good when compared to its rivals. However, one area that is fails to compete is screen-size because it only has a 7 inch touch-screen whereas most of it's rivals have a screen around 10 inches. However, some users might see this as a good thing because it is more compact and easier to carry , which will be important to business users.

The processor is a 1 GHz dual-core offering which is highly competitive while its 1GB of RAM is also the industry standard . The Playbook is available in a choice of 16GB , 32GB and 64GB onboard memory which is the same as most of its rivals.

The rear camera is a 5 mega-pixel offering which is one of the best tablet cameras, while the front-facing 3 mega-pixel camera is the highest available. The Playbook also supports both WiFi , 3G and can act as a tethering device to share the connection with other devices.

Overall, we think the Playbook is a fantastic tablet for business users because it is compact, has a great specification ,  comes with Blackberry's excellent operating system and has top business features. The price is highly competitive and the tablet should continue to achieve the success it's seen in the US.

Japanese still locked out of PlayStation Network

Sony has restored its PlayStation network in most of the world following a high profile hack last month, but gamers in its native Japan remain locked out of the system.
The government is blocking a relaunch until Sony satisfies regulators that it has had applied improved security controls.
Gamers enthusiast and security expert Chris Boyd confirmed that the PlayStation Network remains offline in Japan.
"There are two ways to log into the PSN network - your web based account on the regional portal, and the console itself to play games online,".
"The Japanese PSN website doesn't appear to have a working login anywhere, and I've checked with friends in Japan who say they cannot currently access the network through their consoles."
Gamers in the rest of the world were greeted with a "Welcome Back" package on rejoining the network, designed to provide compensation for the four weeks without the service. Gamers will be offered a choice of two complimentary titles from a selection of four when the PlayStation Store reopens at the end of May.
The entertainment giant is also offering 30 days' free membership of its PlayStation Plus scheme, or 60 days to existing subscribers. Plus membership offers discounts for game purchase and the ability to save gaming positions to cloud-based servers.
Sony suffered a hack on its PlayStation Network and Online Entertainment service last month that exposed the personal details of 77 million PlayStation Network gamers and (separately) 25 million customers of its Online Entertainment services. The entertainment giant pulled the plug on both services following the incident, which exposed the names, email addresses, dates of birth and phone numbers of PlayStation Network gamers.

Opera Mini 6 and Mobile 11 Reviews

Pinch zooming works very smoothly on the new version of Opera Browser, and so does web page rendering and HTML5 support. Opera Browser has last month released two versions of its mobile browser, the Opera Browser Mini 6 and Opera Browser Mobile 11 sending the users into a tizzy as which one should they go for? The biggest difference between the two is that Opera Browser Mobile 11 is only for those Smartphone that has Symbian, Android or Windows Phone operating system. Else, you will have to be content with Opera Browser Mini 6 only. The core of both the mobile browsers remains the same. The browser experience and features are also similar in both.

The browser engine in Opera Browser Mini 6 is located on Opera Browser servers, whereas Opera Browser Mobile 11 has the browser engine stored in your phone itself. When the users enter a web address in the address bar of the browser, the Opera Browser Mobile 11 gets the page loaded directly from the web server, whereas in Opera Browser Mini 6, the request first goes to Opera Browser Mini server, which gets the pages for you from the web. The pages are then converted into a lightweight version which is then sent to the Smartphone.

In Opera Browser Mini 6, however, some complicated web pages may not appear correctly in your Smartphones. The advanced users could get both the browsers installed and browse mobile websites depending on the connection, for example they may use Opera Browser Mobile 11 when they are on Wi-Fi and Opera Browser Mini 6 when they are browsing on mobile service provider network. There are some superficial changes such as the black navigation bar background and menu bar icon that now appears as "O". Once users start browsing, they notice the deeper changes. The HTML5 support, better web page rendering, and of course the touchscreen specialist pinch zooming, which is extremely smooth and works well even on phones where RAM is less. However, the Pinch to zoom function does not work well on resistive touchscreens or on phones where multi touch doesn't work.

The Symbian version of Opera Browser Mobile 11 looks good. Zooming in the web pages doesn't distract from the web pages because the text fits again to adjust with the screen size. Another new feature is zooming in and zooming out by just tapping twice on the touchscreens. In the earlier version, only a single tap allowed users to zoom in. The demand from users that they are allowed to quickly go up or down the web page has also been answered this time with the on screen arrows. The sharing feature allowed in Android and Symbian phones lets users to share the web page address and title with others. The new tabs are opened in the background, another change from earlier Opera Browser version. And yes, users can play Flash videos on it without even downloading Flash player in their devices. The navigation bar of the browser goes to the top in tablet version of the browser.

Mozilla Firefox 4 for Android released | TechAnsar

At last Mozilla has released the new web browser for mobile. The Firefox 4.0 mobile web browser for the Google Android Operating System based phones. The innovative Firefox 4 web browser for Android and Maemo mobile platform based these devices offers the tabbed of browsing, bookmarks, Firefox Sync support and even the Add-ons on it. Several nifty features have been the additional to the most recent version of Firefox web browser for Android and Maemo portable devices. Sorry to say that this innovative Firefox 4.0 web browser doesn't support the old ARM v6 CPU based portable phones and also doesn't support the Adobe Flash application.

Mozilla Firefox developers assert that the Firefox 4.0 web browser is up to three times quicker than the stock Android browser. Firefox 4.0 web browser gets superior JavaScript engine with the JaegerMonkey JIT compiler to create the page loads earlier and improve the overall graphics performance. New modernized interface is aimed to hold forward the minima listic approach of the Firefox web browser on the computer system. Hence it keeps the user occupied in the web content by with desktop system browser features like alternates Tabs, browser controls and bookmarks sync.

Mozilla Firefox 4.0 is accessible in Android Market for the Android portable devices and the portable Maemo devices and if possible you may be able to download the same from here. It is not shocking to observe Firefox 4.0 web browser since Opera web browser released its Mobile 11 and Mini 6 version of mobile based web browser.

Free Download and Reviews of Firefox 4 by TechAnsar

Firefox 4 web browser is really quite a bit of a development over its predecessor and brings a host of innovative features that should help it to participate against the competitors likes of Google Chrome web browser, Safari web browser, Opera web browser and the new Internet Explorer 9 web browser. So we took it for a small spin to see how big a development it actually is.

User Interface & Features

The most noticeable change is the new interface. Firefox 4 web browser eschews the traditional Windows menu bar for a Chrome web browser like transparent top bar. The important menu items are now congregated in an Opera 11 web browser style single button in the top left corner. As you can see, none of the UI elements are particularly original. Mozilla has chosen to borrow all the good things about the UI from its competitors and we think it has worked to their advantage. The new design looks simple and minimalistic and also uses less portion of your display. Firefox 4 web browser does take about two pixels more than Opera 11 web browser and Chrome web browser and several more compared to Internet Explorer 9 web browser with the tabs beside the address bar.

The drop down menu in the top left is a heavily simplified version of the traditional menu found on Firefox 3 web browser. Those used to the older browser will feel bit lost here as everything is now placed as a sub-menu that you have to wait for to appear when you hover over a menu item. You can of course choose to bring the menu bar back but then it will consume more screen space and doesn't look remotely good on the transparent bar. The button normally looks orange but turns purple in Private Browsing mode.

Mac Operating System and Linux Operating System users for now don't have access to this new menu button. They instead rely on the fixed menu bar on top of their screens to access all the functions. Also, since there is no transparency effect, the Mac Operating System and Linux Operating System versions look almost identical to Firefox 3 web browser, except for some redesigned buttons that are placed differently.

The buttons have been rearranged in Firefox 4 web browser. There isn't a separate Stop and Refresh button anymore. Both the functions have now been combined to merge them into a single button placed inside the address bar and changed function depending on the browser activity. This has made the address bar and the search bar pretty long, although we would have liked if Mozilla web browser had merged them into one, just like on Chrome web browser and Internet Explorer 9 web browser. Thankfully, the address bar now finally has the Paste & Go and Paste & Search functions that Opera web browser has had for ages and so does Chrome web browser. The Home button is on the extreme right, along with a new Bookmarks button that compensates for the lack of a dedicated menu bar item.

The tabs are now above the address bar. You can move them around but it seems Mozilla web browser has failed to notice that other browsers now have tabs that move smoothly around, a feature first seen on Safari web browser. You can pluck them out into a separate window and then put them back in. A new feature with tabs on Firefox 4 is the ability to pin them, something that Chrome web browser first had. Mozilla web browser calls it Application Tabs. Tabs that have been pinned stay in the tab bar even after you close the browser and reload when you start it again. They take on a smaller form and only show their favicon to identify themselves.

The tab bar has a New Tab button that is placed on the far right. What's more, you can't even double click on the tab bar to create a new bar as it is now part of the window frame and double clicking it maximizes or minimizes the window. Thankfully, you can drag the button next to a tab and it turns into an old fashioned New Tab button next to the last tab.

Firefox 4 web browser comes with a new tab management feature called Firefox Panorama. When you summon it by pressing Ctrl + Shift + E, it shows you all your open tabs. You see thumbnails for all your tabs, which makes it very to jump to one, especially if you have dozens of open tabs. You can drag a tab out of a group and then add or drag other tabs into it to create a new group. You can also right click a tab and then send it directly to a new group. You can rename the groups as well. You can have different groups, one for, say, your work related windows or one for something else, say, your social networking sites. Of course, this is something worth investing time in only if you spend considerable amount of time inside a web browser and don't ever close it at all. When you click on a tab in a group, you will only see the tabs from that group in the tab bar.

Panorama is a nice thing to have on board. Even if you don't use its ability to separate your tabs into different group, you will still appreciate its ability to give you thumbnail previews of your open tabs, which makes switching much easier.

Opera Releases Browsers for Smartphones and Tablets

Opera Software has released updated versions of its Mini and Mobile smartphone browsers, and adapted the browsers' interface for tablets, the Norwegian company said on Tuesday. New features include a share button, which allows users to post messages on Twitter and Facebook. The updates feature improved scrolling and panning performance, and zooming has also been improved: it now makes use of pinch-to-zoom on all devices that support it. In the tablet versions, the navigation buttons are at the top of the screen, rather than at the bottom as in the smartphone versions, Opera said. The Opera Mini 6 browser is available for phones that can run J2ME Java applets and for smartphones running the Android, BlackBerry and Symbian S60 operating systems. Opera Mobile 11 supports HTML5 and is available for smartphones running Android and Symbian. Experimental versions are also available for devices running MeeGo and Maemo, as is one for tablets running Windows 7, according to Opera. Opera Mini uses a proxy server to compress and reformat Web pages before they are transmitted to the phone. Using compression speeds up downloads and means subscribers without unlimited data contracts can save money. Opera Mobile, on the other hand, works like a traditional browser, without using a proxy server. Opera didn't release versions of the browsers for Apple's iPhone and iPad on Tuesday, but owners of those two devices should stay tuned, an Opera spokeswoman said via e-mail. Opera is hoping to get its browser in other devices too. On Monday, the company announced at the IP&TV World Forum in London that it will unveil a new version of its Opera for Devices SDK 3.0, which is its embeddable browser engine for TVs. The new version comes with a totally re-designed rendering engine to improve performance. There is also improved HTML5 compliance, and HTML5 video integrated from day one on some platforms, Opera said.

LG Optimus One Getting Android Gingerbread 2.3

There are lots of dissimilar mobile phones on the market powered by Google’s Android mobile operating system from a wide array of dissimilar makers. Each of these dissimilar mobile phones feature their fair share of positive qualities be it price, big screen, high resolution camera or what have you. However, just about every Android smartphone is the same in that it takes quite some time before actually being updated to the latest version of Android. In fact, some of the only smartmobile phones currently on the market running Android 2.3 include Google’s own Nexus One and Nexus S. Luckily, many other makers have let us know in the past that they do plan on releasing the Android 2.3 update at some point in the future. For instance, LG has just come forth today by way of Facebook to let us know that the Android 2.3 update for their highly popular Optimus One will be made available this Spring. Of course things are subject to change so until something along the lines of a press release goes out we’d say don’t get too excited just yet.

Samsung Galaxy Tab vs Rooted Nook Color

Many videos related to "rooting" or hacking the Nook Color with custom firmware that allows you to turn Barnes & Noble's color e-reader into a full-on Android tablet. Nook Color rooted with a Samsung Galaxy Tab that has very similar specs but includes front-and-back facing cameras and a 3G data option for those who want to pay the added service fees. The Galaxy Tab has a smaller footprint, whereas the Nook Color is slightly thinner. If you're willing to opt-in to a two-year contract with a carrier, you can get the Tab for as low as $250. But the unsubsidized version costs $500, which is twice the price of the Nook Color. When Samsung releases a $399 Wi-Fi-only Tab--it's coming soon--that will narrow the difference to $150. Nook Color isn't as stable as the Galaxy Tab, but otherwise the two devices seem to perform pretty similarly. Some people will always prefer "official," company-backed products to so-called, but the price delta here makes for an awfully compelling case to go the root route.
